Death of Thomas Forsyth.

Thomas Forsyth, one of the oldest re­sidents of Hensley township, died yes­terday morning at 2 o’clock, age eighty-four years. For the past few years he had been in feeble health. Recently he had made his home at the residence of his son, J. H. Forsyth.

Deceased was born January 23, 1816 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. His father died when he was but six years old. In 1830 he came with his widowed mother to Johnson County, where he settled in Hensley Township. There he continued to reside during the rest of his life. His citizenship in Hensley Township covers a period of seventy years. He was a model citizen and through industry and right living pros­pered. He was ever kind and charitable to the needy. All who knew him res­pected and honored him. The children who survive him are: J. H. Forsyth, M. S. Forsyth, Mrs. Jennie Jeffries, Milton H. and Bronson Forsyth. All reside in Johnson county except the daughter, who lives at Irvington.

Funeral services will be held at First Mt. Pleasant church tomorrow after­noon.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Hensley Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 91 records that Thomas Forsythe [sic] died on 17 May 1900 at his residence in Hensley Township from heart failure, contributory cause old age, aged eighty-four years, three months and twenty-four days. He was male, white, married and a retired farmer, born in Kentucky. His father's name was James Forsythe [sic], and his mother's maiden name Jane Sturgeon, both born in Kentucky. The informant was James H. Forsythe [sic]. He was buried in Johnson County, Dudley Peek, undertaker.
