OLD CITIZEN

J. P. Forsyth Passes Away May 23d. [sic]

J. P. Forsyth, generally known as "Doc" Forsyth, died Thursday night of last week at his home in Nineveh township. In his death Johnson Co., loses one of its oldest and best known citizens. His long life of ninety years rounded out April 24, had been spent in Johnson county, with the exception of the first two years.

He was born April 24, 1822, in Kentucky. His parents came to this county in 1824, settling near Nineveh. His career has been that of a farmer, one who has always taken a pride in the cultivation of crops and the raising of fine live stock. He was twice married and is survived by his children, Mrs. W. D. Prichard, Mrs. Mollie Mullikin, Mrs. Ira Vandivier, Henry Forsyth of Detroit, W. A. and Dan M. Forsyth of Howard, Kansas.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Lee Tinsley of Morristown. Burial in the Featheringill cemetery.
