Funeral Services Saturday for Rowland Fordyce
      Funeral services Saturday at 2:30 P.M. at the Edinburg Methodist Church
for Rowland Fordyce will be conducted by the Reverend W. T. Jones of
Bloomington, former pastor here, assisted by Pastor B. J. Renner.
      Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
      Friends may call at the Vandivier Funeral Home, 151 N. Main Street,
Franklin, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. tonight and Friday afternoon and evening.
The body will be brought to the Edinburg Methodist Church at 10:00 A.M.
Saturday morning and the casket will be opened.
      Mr. Fordyce died suddenly at noon yesterday at his home on County Line
Street here.
      He was born in Brown County August 22, 1892.  His parents were W. W. and
Dora Garner Fordyce.  The family moved to Edinburg in 1910 where his
father established a grocery business.
      On December 8, 1910 Mr. Fordyce married Arie Coy who survives.
      Surviving daughters are Mrs. Parmelia Fordyce Straughn of Edinburg and
Mrs. Fata Mae Martines of Downey, California.
      Surviving grandchildren are David, Penny, and Charles Allen Straughn of
Edinburg, Mrs. Sharron Martines McMorrow of Honolulu and Robert Martines
of Downey, Calif.  A brother, Seymour Fordyce of Franklin and a sister,
Mrs. Sallie (Omer) Curry of here precede in death.
      Mr. Fordyce was a member of and active in the work of the Methodist Church
of Edinburg.  He served as Trustee of the Church and was a member of the
Earnest Workers Class.
      Mr. Fordyce served 12 years as a Trustee of the Bartholomew County
Hospital.
      After continuing the Fordyce grocery business here until 1944, Mr. Fordyce
was a member of the Camp Atterbury Fire Department.  He then was with
Dunlap Company here until his retirement in 1959.

Rowland G. Fordyce, 73, dies Wednesday at home
EDINBURG — Rowland G. Fordyce, a longtime resident and businessman in Edinburg,
died Wednesday noon at his home, 909 East County Line Rd., Edinburg.
      Born August 22, 1892 in Brown County, he was the son of W.W. and Dora G.
Fordyce.  He married Arie Coy in 1910.  Two daughters, Mrs. Permelia
Strawn, of Edinburg and Mrs. Fada Mae Martines of California survive along
with five grandchildren.
      Fordyce was retired from Dunlap in 1959.  Previous to that he owned a
grocery in Edinburg from 1910 to 1944.  He was a member and trustee of the
Methodist Church of Edinburg for 50 years and was a trustee of the Bartholomew
County Hospital.
      Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Edinburg Methodist
Church with the Rev. W. T. Jones of Bloomington and the Rev. B. J. Renner
of Edinburg officiating.
      Friends may call at Vandivier funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday.  The
casket will be moved to the church Saturday morning and friends may call
at the church until time of service.
      Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

FORMER GROCER,
DIES IN HIS HOME

EDINBURG — A former grocer of Edinburg, Roland G. Fordyce, died suddenly at noon Wednesday at his home, 909 East County Line Street, in Edinburg. He had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services have been arranged for Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Edinburg Meth­odist Church, with the Rev. W. T. Jones, Bloomington in charge of the services. Assisting will be the Rev. B. J. Renner, pastor of the Edinburg Methodist Church. Burial will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Vandivier Funeral Home, 951 North Main Street, in Franklin, after 7 o’clock and until 10 o’clock Saturday morn­ing, when the body will be taken to the church. The casket will be open at the church until the time for the services. They are invited to attend the rites.

Mr. Fordyce was born in Brown County on Aug. 22, 1892, and his parents were the late W. W. and Dora Garner Fordyce.

He and the former Arie Coy were married on Dec. 8, 1910, and two daughters were born to them.

Owned Grocery

From 1910 to 1944, Mr. Fordyce had owned and operated a grocery store in Edinburg and after selling the grocery had been employed at the Dunlap Company. He retired in 1959. Also, for a few years, he was with the Atterbury Fire Department.

Mr. Fordyce was interested in community affairs and for 12 years was a trustee of the Bartholomew County Hospital at Columbus.

He was a member of the Edinburg Methodist Church for over 50 years and had served as trustee, and president of his Sunday school class for many years.

The widow and two daughters, Mrs. Permelia Straughn, of Edin­burg, and Mrs. Fata Mae Martines, of Downey, Calif., are the survivors.

Also, others who remain are five grandchildren, David, Penny, and Charles Allen Straughn, of Edin­burg, Mrs. Sharon McMarrow, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Robert Martinez of Downey.
