Russell C. "Shorty" Fleener, Sr.
 
Russell C. "Shorty" Fleener Sr., 
69, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, 
in North Vernon. He was a resi-
dent of North Vernon and a 
former resident of Trafalgar.

He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in 
Martinsville. His parents were 
Charles and Flossie (Pearson) 
Fleener. He married Marjorie 
(Duke) Fleener on June 9, 1950, 
in Trafalgar. She survives. 
Other survivors include three 
sons, Russell Fleener Jr., 
Michael Fleener and Tom Fleener, 
all of North Vernon; two daugh-
ters, Mary Rosetta Gilliam of 
Indianapolis and Nancy Adams 
of North Vernon; two brothers, 
Doyle "Red" Fleener of Morgan-
town and Frederick L. "Peanut" 
Fleener of Martinsville; 15 
grandchildren; and 10 great-
grandchildren. He was preceded 
in death by a brother, Delbert 
Fleener.

He was employed for 40 years as 
an inspector by Allison Gas 
Turbine General Motors, retiring 
in March 1992.

He was a member of Trafalgar 
Christian Church.

The Rev. Larry Marshall will 
conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. 
Monday at Forest Lawn Wilson 
St. Pierre Funeral Home, State 
Road 135 Chapel. Friends may 
call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday 
at the funeral home. Burial
will be at Forest Lawn Memory 
Gardens in White River Township.

Memorial contributions may be 
made to the American Diabetes 
Association.
