Death of Judge Finch.

Judge Fabius M. Finch died Monday at 10:15 a.m., at his home in Indian­apolis, after an illness of two weeks. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and the remains brought to Franklin Wed­nesday morning for burial in Greenlawn. The active pall bearers were Judge D. W. Howe, Aquilla Jones, Eli F. Ritter, Albert Baker, G. A. Deitch and John S. Duncan, of Indianapolis; Judge Johnson and Edward F. White, of Franklin. The honorary pall bearers were Ex-President Harrison, Simon Yandes, Dr. W. H. Wishard, R. N. Lamb, A. L. Roach, John H. Holliday and Gen. James R. Carnahan. Brief ser­vices were held at the grave in Green­lawn, conducted by Rev. M. L. Haines, assisted by Drs. Morey and Marshall.

Fabius M. Finch was born in Living­ston County, New York, Decem­ber 20, 1810. In 1814 his father, John Finch, and family removed to Hamilton Coun­ty, Ohio, and settled on a farm at North Bend, adjoining that of William Henry Harrison. In 1813 John Finch and fam­ily removed to Connersville, Ind., and thence, in 1819, to Nobles­ville. The son, at eighteen years, began the study of law in Indianapolis. In 1831 he came to Franklin, where he practiced law until 1865, when he moved to Indian­apolis.

Judge Finch was a man of excellent natural endowments and esteemed by all, both in his public and private life.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Certificate and Record of Death, Indianapolis, Center Township, Marion County, Indiana, page 102 records that Fabius Maximus Finch died from uremia caused by nephritis of one week’s duration at about 10 o’clock a. m. on 12 Mar 1900 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, aged eighty-nine years, two months and eighteen days, born in Livingston County, New York. He was male, white, married and a lawyer. His father’s name was John Finch, birthplace unknown, and his mother’s maiden name was Mahitable Barron, born in New York. He was buried in Franklin, Indiana on 14 Mar 1900, C. E. Kriegele, undertaker.
