Mrs. D. P. Eccles, age seventy years, whose death occurred last week at Whiteland, was buried Friday. Funeral services at the house were conducted by Rev. M. L. Pearson.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Page No. 84, records that sixty-nine-year, three-month, sixteen-day-old Ellen Jane Eccles died from gastro-intestinal enteritis, duration three weeks, at 4:30 p.m. on 15 Nov 1899 in Whiteland, Pleasant Township, Johnson County, Indiana. She was female, white and widowed, a housewife, born in Virginia. Her father’s name was Josiah Custer and her mother’s maiden name Mary Helis [sic]. Both were born in Pennsylvania. The informant was Edward Eccles. She was buried in Franklin, Indiana on 17 Nov 1899, undertaker E. G. Barnhizer.
