Carol E. Duitsman, 94, Franklin

Carol E. Duitsman passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009. 

She was born at home in Freeport, Illinois, on Valentine’s Day, 1915. Her
parents were the late Jacob and Carrie (Gill) Duitsman. After graduating from
high school she attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, preparing for a
career in Christian Education.

She moved to Anderson and served as Secretary to the minister at the United
Brethren church for four years. She then came to Indianapolis and was hired to
do the accounting and bookkeeping for Indiana Conference South for 18 years
until the conference office moved to Bloomington.

Her next job was Accountant at the YWCA where she worked for 13 years until
transportation became a problem. She then enjoyed part-time employment at the
Crafty Lady Shop in the Hyatt Hotel downtown.

With a love for children she taught Sunday school at University Heights United
Methodist church for 30 years. In 1993 she entered the Franklin United Methodist
Community and continued her residence there until her death.

Rev. John Eley will conduct a service on Monday, June 29th at 4:00 p.m. at the
Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Chapel, 1070 West Jefferson Street
in Franklin. 

Friends may call on Monday, June 29th from 2:00 p.m. to time of service at 4:00
p.m. at the chapel. 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Forest
Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. 

Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin is handling arrangements.
