––––––––

Mrs. Luella Weaver Duckworth, widow of Jesse M. Duckworth, died Monday morning at 9 o’clock at the home of her son, John Duckworth, and family, of Franklin, after an illness from a form of anemia that had produced failing health for more than a year. Her illness was not really serious, however, until Saturday, when she became rapidly worse.

Mrs. Duckworth was born July 13, 1850 in Union neighborhood. She was the daughter of Horace and Lydia Weaver. Her mother dying when she was small, Mrs. Duckworth lived at the home of Mrs. Thomas Flinn, while her father was in the Union army during the Civil war. After the war, she lived with Mrs. Louisa Crowell. She was married to Jesse Duckworth February 10, 1880. They went to housekeeping on a farm in Shelby county, where they lived for eighteen years.

Later they moved to a farm near Needham and lived there until the death of Mr. Duckworth, 14 months ago, when Mrs. Duckworth went to Franklin to live with her son and family.

Two children survive her, Mrs. W. H. Schlosser, and John Duckworth, and three grandchildren. Three of her children died in infancy. Five half-sisters and one-half brother also survive. They are Frank Weaver of London, Mrs. Thomas Ensminger and Mrs. Arthur Hasster of Fairland, Mrs. Harry Schlosser of London, Mrs. Emma Smith of Shelbyville, and Miss Ollie Weaver of Shelbyville.

For many years she was a member of Mt. Pleasant church, where she was an active worker as long as she could attend. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at Second Mt. Pleasant church, in charge of Rev. A. E. Murphy and Rev. William Mullendore. Burial at Mt. Pleasant.
