CHARLES DOWNS PASSES BEYOND
Funeral Services for Edinburg Resident to be Held Friday Afternoon
      Edinburg, May 10 -- Charles E. Downs, 57, of Edinburg, died at the Robert
Long hospital in Indianapolis at 12:40 this morning following a long
illness of a complication of diseases.
      Funeral services will be held from the local Methodist church at 2 o’clock
Friday afternoon.  Burial will be in Rest Haven.
      Mr. Downs was born in Edinburg the son of Ansel and Mary E. Breedlove
Downs, and spent his entire life here.  He was married to Miss Alice Coy,
of this community, Sept. 15, 1900, and one son, Martin, was born to this
union.  The widow and son, two brothers, Frank and William Downs, both of
Edinburg, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Philllips, also of this place survive.

LAST RITES FOR CHARLES DOWNS
      Edinburg, May 13 -- Funeral services were held at the Methodist church
Friday afternoon for Charles E. Downs, 57, who died at the Robert Long
hospital in Indianapolis, early Wednesday morning.  The Rev. J.A. Sumwalt
was in charge and Mr. and Mrs. William Gosney sang.  The casket was
carried by Francis Richards, Ivory Lemley, Charles Gundrum, Ebert True,
Lawrence Davis and Elba Hasch.
      Flower carriers were Mrs. Clifford Murphy, Mrs. Marie Hatton, Mrs. Ray
Miller, Mrs. Clyde Freeman, Mrs. Mary Gasaway, Mrs. Roscoe Wray, Mrs.
Roscoe Talbert, Georgiana Murphy and Norma Jean Hatton.
