SMITH’S VALLEY.

Miss Sarah Doty was born in Virginia, Oct. 27, 1808, and died August 17, 1897; aged 88 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was one of the first settlers of the county, settling with her father and mother on a farm near Waterloo, Ind. At an early age she made a confession and united with the Baptist church and later with the Christian church, and was one of the charter members of the founding of the Mt. Pleasant church. There were ten children in her father’s family and out of this number Wm. Doty is the only one left to mourn. She was kind and affectionate, always taking delight in helping the sick. She was a devout Christian, firm in the faith until the end. Her loss will leave a vacancy in the home which never can be filled.
