      Former Trafalgar resident Joe Denton, San Leandro, 
Calif., died Thursday at Johnson County Memorial Hospital 
in Franklin.  He had been in the area visiting his sister, 
Shirley Forsyth of Franklin.  Arrangements are pending at 
Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin.

      Former Trafalgar resident Joe Denton, 74, died 
Thursday night at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, 
after a one-month illness.
      The San Leandro, Calif., resident had been visiting his 
sister, Shirley Forsyth, in Franklin.
      A 1932 graduate of Trafalgar High School, he was born 
Dec. 16, 1913, to Samuel P. and Dosha (Anderson) Denton 
in Otisco.
      A sister, Ruth Handley, and a brother, Baxter Denton, 
preceded him in death.
      Mr. Denton was a musician and vocalist, once playing 
in the Ken Harris Orchestra in Indianapolis.  He owned and 
operated the Tiki Lounge restaurant in San Leandro, retiring 
in 1985.
      He was a member of Trafalgar Christian Church.
      Friends may call Sunday from 2 until the 4 p.m. service 
at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home, Franklin.  The Rev. 
Rebecca Nunnally will officiate.  Inurnment will be in 
California.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Ameri-
can Heart Association or cancer research.
