Orpheus M. Delph, 39, former resident of Franklin and Johnson county and well known in this community, died Thursday night at his home, 923 East Raymond street, Indianapolis, after an illness extending over a period of several months.

Mr. Delph was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Delph and was born Feb. 10 1887, at the old Delph homestead in Union township. He spent his boyhood in this community and in March, 1908, was married to Cora Craft of North Carolina.

For a short time following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Delph lived in Franklin. They then moved to Indianapolis, where they lived for the past 16 years. Mr. Delph had been employed in the chemical departments of several large Indianapolis manufacturing concerns.

Mr. Delph was the father of three children: Mary Elizabeth, age 17; Doris, age 9; and Mary Frances, age 4. All three children survive. Besides his widow and children, the deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Martha Delph and one brother, Chelsea Delph of Indianapolis. His father, W. F. Delph died Sept. 7, 1905. One brother, Raymond Delph and a sister, Mrs. Loui[s] Hutchinson, are also dead.

Mr. Delph has many relatives and friends in Johnson county. Mrs. R. D. Vandivier, of Union township, is an aunt, and Mrs. Omer Henderson, a cousin.

Arrangements have been made for the funeral services to be held at the Glade church in Clark township, in order that friends may attend.

The services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Burial will be in the First Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

The deceased was a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Delph, well known citizens of Johnson county.
