OBITUARY.

John DeCoursey departed this life Oct. 21, 1897, after lingering with consumption for more than a year. He bore his suffering with great patience, almost without a murmur. He was 27 years of age and during his short stay here on earth he won a large circle of friends and was considered a favorite among his associates. He was a kind hearted son and brother and all who knew him loved him.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1892 and served nearly three years. He united with the Youngs Creek Christian church at the age of 19. But through habit and worldly pleasures he was drawn aside from the path of righteousness, yet the spiritual spark that was kindled then never ceased to burn, and in the last few weeks of his illness he made his peace with God, and said he was prepared and ready to go.

He leaves a mother, sister and three brothers to mourn their loss, but we feel that our loss is his eternal gain, and we are ready to say, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord.”
