OBITUARY.

Another of the pioneers of Johnson County has completed her worldly labor; has given up the scepter and is now laying in rest awaiting the judgment day beneath the sod of Glenn Cemetery.

The subject of the above was Aunt Allie Dean, as she was commonly known. Aunt Allie was born May 18, 1803 in Ky., emigrated with her parents, Samuel and Mary Smith to Marion county, Indiana in the year 1817, living in single blessedness with her parents until 1829 when she met with and was wedded to Philip Dean. Soon after that marriage, Mr. Dean entered land in Johnson County; brought his wife thence and lived in happiness and prosperity until he was separated from all that was dear to him in 1867 by the hand of death. Since that time Aunt Allie remained on the old homestead enjoying the bliss of life until the death angel of God stole into her chamber and beckoned her away on the morning of Feb. 23, 1890 at the extreme old age of 86 years, 7 months and 3 days. The funeral services of Aunt Allie were conducted by Rev. McKee, Feb 24, at the residence of Mr. Irwin Louper on the home place, with whom she had been living. She leaves a sister, the only relative, in Nebraska, at the age of 93 years. At the age of about 30 Aunt Allie joined the Methodist church and from that time on lived in reverent fear of the Lord. A true and noble woman.
