Alice Coy

Alice C. Coy, 62, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital. She was a resident of Morgantown.

She was born May 2, 1938, in Greenwood. Her parents were Hubert W. and Sarah “Sally” W. (Jackson) Bar­rett. Survivors include a son, Chris Douglas Coy of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Lou Ann Sabatier of Falls Church, Va., and Karla J. Mc­Connell of Trafalgar; a brother, Roy Barrett of Indian­apolis and seven grand­children. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

She was a 1960 graduate of Nineveh High School.

From 1976 to present she owned and operated Ceramics by Coy in Rensse­laer and Morgantown and was a judge for ceramics in 4-H for several coun­ties. She was previously employed from 1992 to 1997 by Marion County Pro­secutors Office, Child Support Division; from 1969 to 1976 she was employed by Johnson County Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant; from 1962 to 1969 she was employed by Central Rubber & Supply Co. as an executive assistant; and from 1958 to 1962 she was employed by Franklin United Methodist Home. She also taught voice lessons. She had modeled hairstyles at Indiana Schools of Beauty in Indian­apolis during the 1960s.

She was a charter member of Iroquois Valley Christian Church in Rensselaer and Fair Haven Christian Church in Trafalgar. She was a member of Francesville Christian Church and Wabash Valley Ceramics Association. She was choir director and Sunday school teacher at Iroquois Valley Chris­tian and Fair Haven Christian churches. She was a NASCAR and Dale Jarrett fan.

The Rev. Steve Fair will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fair Haven Christian Church in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sun­day at the church. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Johnson County. Arrangements are being handled by Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Mor­gantown.

Morgantown resident Alice C. Coy died Thursday, October 19, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was 62.

She was born May 2, 1938, in Greenwood, the daughter of Hubert W. and Sarah “Sally” W. Jackson Barrett.

She was employed at the Methodist Home in Franklin; had been an executive assistant at Central Rubber and Supply in Indianapolis; and had worked in the Child Support Division of the Marion County Prosecutor’s office from 1992 until 1997.

Mrs. Coy owned and operated Ceramics By Coy in Rensselaer and Morgantown since 1976, and had judged ceramics in 4-H for several counties.

She also had taught voice to students and had modeled hairstyles at the Indiana School of Beauty in In­dianapolis during the early 1960s.

A charter member of the Iroquois Valley Christian Church in Rensselaer and the Fair Haven Christian Church in Trafalgar, Mrs. Coy had been the choir director and a Sunday school teacher at both churches.

Mrs. Coy also had been a member of the Francesville Christian Church and the Wabash Valley Ceramics As­sociation.

She loved NASCAR racing and was a fan of Dale Jarrett.

Survivors include two daughters, Lou Ann Sabatier of Falls Church, Virginia and Karla J. McConnell of Trafalgar; a son Chris Douglas Coy of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Roy Barrett of Indianpolis; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Reverend Steve Fair officiated a service Monday, October 23, at Fair Haven Christian Church in Trafalgar.

Burial was in Johnson County’s Hopewell Cemetery.

Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown handled the arrange­ments.
