OBITUARY.

Maggie Lusk, wife of Albert Cole, was born in Johnson County, Ind., Sept 1, 1867; died at their home in Shelby County, Ind., Sept. 11, 1896, aged 29 years and 10 days.

She was converted during a series of meetings conducted by Bro. P. O. Duncan and Bro. Pavy and united with the Second Mt. Pleasant church Feb. 23, 1889, and was baptized by Bro. Pavy. She was united in marriage with Albert Cole on the 10th of January, 1895. Today this young husband mourns the loss of a kind and affectionate wife—a wife possessing many traits that go to make an earthly home one of comfort and pleasure, a lovely and attractive disposition, one who in her quiet way was trying to live a Christian life. In this hour of great bereavement may the God of peace be very near him to guide and comfort and may he remember that the Lord does not forget or forsake his children in the hour of trial.

She leaves an aged father and mother who have reared a family of ten children to be men and women, Maggie being the first of these to follow the Silent Guide across the river of Death into the great unknown beyond, whence no traveler ever returns. These aged parents with five brothers and four sisters who are so sadly bereft, have the sympathy of their many friends in this, their great loss, but each of these have a personal knowledge of the Great Comforter, who is a friend above all others to those who seek comfort of Him.

The babe, who is thus early left, will never know a mother’s love or care, but in the years to come we trust it may be a joy to him to know his mother did not fear to die. While the church and the families who feel most keenly this touch of the divine hand mourn, we realize our loss is Maggie’s gain and trust we can truly say: “The Lord’s will be done.”

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. P. O. Duncan, were held at Second Mt. Pleasant church, Sunday, Sept. 13. A very large congregation was present to pay their last respects to one who was loved and esteemed by many. Burial at Second Mt. Pleasant.
