      Lawrence Jacob Coffman, 
73, Franklin, a lifelong Johnson 
County resident, died Thursday 
at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.  
He had been in failing health four 
years.
      He was born July 31, 1910, 
in Nineveh to Jacob and Stella
 (Tearman) Coffman.  He gradu-
ated from Hopewell High School.
      He married Marian Gladys 
Keith July 25, 1934.  She survives.
      He retired in 1978 after 
working 32 years in the skilled 
trades at Detroit Diesel Allison 
Division of General Motors Corp.
      He was a member of Grace 
United Methodist Church, Frank-
lin Masonic Lodge 107, Franklin 
Order of Eastern Star 439 and 
United Auto Workers.
      A funeral service will be 
at 10 a.m. Monday at Vandivier-
Tudor Funeral Home, Franklin, 
with the Revs. Stanley Howell 
and C.V. McMillan officiating.  
Friends may call after 2 p.m. 
Sunday at the funeral home.  
Burial will be at Forest Lawn 
Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
      A memorial service will be 
conducted by Masonic Lodge 107 
at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral 
home.
      Other survivors include two 
sons, Larry K. Coffman and Michael 
K. Coffman, both of Franklin; two 
brothers, Mark Coffman and Paul 
Y. Coffman, both of Franklin; six 
grandchildren, and several nieces 
and nephews.
      He was preceded in death by a 
brother, Lloyd Coffman.
