Death of John Chandler.

John Chandler died at his home at 350 East Ohio Street Saturday evening at five o’clock from complications of diseases, superinduced by heart failure and dropsy. Mr. Chandler had not been well for the past few months and he had been confined to his home for six weeks.

He was born in Bartholomew County, February 24th, 1840, and was seventy-three years of age. Mr. Chandler had been a resident of this city for over twenty-five years and during a major portion of that time he had been employed as an engineer at the Greer-Wilkinson company, Coil Hoop Co., E. P. Erwin and Mr. Pittman. Deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church and held membership in the Odd Fellows Lodge. His death is mourned by many friends. He was one of a family of twelve children, all of whom are dead but two, Robert Chandler of Taylorsville and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Perry of St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. John Chandler died November 16th last. No children survive. The funeral services were held from the home this afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Dr. H. P. Klyver. Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge served as casket bearers and the lodge participated in the burial services, which were held at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Hollingsworth, Mrs. Harry Pollick, Mrs. Bert McClain, Mrs. Ellen Ford, Mrs. Wm. Detrick and Mrs. Daniel Elder of Indianapolis, were here to attend the services.
