WHITELAND.

Leona, little daughter of Wm. Carson and wife, was born Jan. 16, 1898, and departed this life July 15, 1900 of brain fever. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Monday evening at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. T. K. Willis. Little Leona was a bright, intelligent child; a beautiful shining light to father, mother and all who knew her. Strange indeed to us are the works of God, to think such a precious little one should be snatched from us. But we suppose it was for some good purpose, planned through this mysterious, but grievous way. Why he should send her like a little guardian angel only to claim her as his own so soon, causing the earthly parents so much sorrow and woe. But they comfort themselves by the thought, “He does all things for the best,” and that it being his own sweet will they are perfectly resigned that this little one which had budded here on earth only to blossom in heaven, should be taken from their bosom without a murmur. There are many relatives and friends who mourn the loss of this sweet child. The body was taken to Greenwood cemetery for burial.
