Ernest Orrin Carr, the step-father of Nashville resident Monte W. Chaille, died Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at his home in Greenwood. He was 78.
Mr. Carr was born September 8, 1917, in Massachusetts to Elmer and Lucy Carr.
He and Marjorie Velora Herbert were married July 19, 1969. She died April 10, 1996.
Mr. Carr had worked as an over-the-road driver for Spector Trucking for 28 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Carr was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church. Greenwood American Legion, Whiteland Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Teamsters Local 135.
Other survivors include two daughters. Judith A. Jackson of Orangeville. California and Kathleen N. Peters of Rockland, Massachusetts; a step-daughter, Kay L. Carpenter of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The Reverend Shan Rutherford conducted a service Thursday, May 9, at Greenwood Christian Church.
The Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home Greenwood Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
