John W. Caplinger, who at various times for the past twenty years has been an inmate of Central hospital for the in­sane, was found dead in his bed yes­terday morning. Death resulted from acute tuberculosis. He came originally from Whiteland and has one brother now living in that town and another at Greenwood.—Sentinel.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Certificate and Record of Death, Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana, page 27 records that John W. Caplinger died from acute military tuberculosis of two weeks duration at about 5 o’clock a. m. on 1 Mar 1900 in the Insane Hospital, Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana, aged forty years. He was male, white, single and a farmer. His father’s name was Jacob Caplinger and his mother’s maiden name Tabitha Vanarsdall, both born in Kentucky. He was buried in Dobyns [sic] Cemetery on 2 Mar 1900.
