Edinburgh— Sharon M. Calvert, 55, of Edinburgh, died Thursday at Todd-Aikens Health Center of Franklin.

She was a 25-year employee of Amos Thompson Corp. She worked at Day’s Express in Taylorsville and L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis.

She was the former president of Edinburgh Community Arts Council and founder of Edinburgh Community Choir. She was active in the Johnson County Democratic party. She was also a former member of Wright-Hageman Library Board in Edinburgh. She attended New Life Community Church in Nashville and Edinburgh United Methodist Church. She was a member of Blue River Advisory Council.

Funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Palusko at 4 p.m. Sunday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Homes, where calling will be from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday.

There will be an 11 a.m. graveside service Monday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born Dec. 25, 1935, in Edinburgh, Eakins (Calvert) was the daughter of Dorthea Hill Gundrum of Edinburgh and the late Charles Gundrum. She married Curtis Calvert on Sept. 8, 1857. He died December 27, 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Bauman of Edinburgh; a sister, Nancy Ireland of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a grandson.
