Mary Burton
Mrs. Mary Emma Burton, 77, Edinburgh, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at Bartholomew County Hospital following an injury at her home. Her husband, Otis Von Burton, had died two weeks before, Oct. 15.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Vernal Mowrey at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were a stepson and grandsons, Raymond Burton, Andy, Maurice, Jr., David, Larry and George Burton.
Mrs. Burton was born in Adair County, Ky., Feb. 10, 1903, the daughter of Cassius and Betsy Jane Burton Holt. She was married to Burton in October of 1927. Mrs. Burton was a member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church.
Survivors include six children, Maurice Dale Burton, Harold Leonard Burton, Howard Wayne Burton, Charlotte Ann Burton, Violet Sue Lindsey and Josephine Jane Johnson, all of Edinburgh; a step-son, Raymond Lloyd Burton; a step-daughter, Margaret Lillie Willey, Oscoda, Mich.; three sisters, Sarah Bilby, Rose Rodgers and Elizabeth Turner, all of Edinburgh, 41 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
