==============================

In Memory of George F. Burton.

George F., son of Abraham and Annie Burton, was born Dec. 27, 1873, and died Sept 4. 1898. Between these two dates is the short space of 24 years, 8 months and 7 days, which mark the earthly career of our brother, who has so recently gone from us.

He was married Oct. 30, 1895, to Miss Ida Levan, who today is left a mourning widow, with the memory of less than three years of happy wedded life and the hope of meeting her dearest friend in the world to come.

Besides the wife, who loved him better than her own life, there remain to mourn their loss, a father, mother, one brother and five sisters.

Such is the fate of families, for “there is no household howso’er defended but has one vacant chair.”

He confessed his faith in Christ, yielded himself in obedience to his Master and united with the Christian church at Trafalgar in March, 1889. To this confession he remained faithful until he was called to come away and he went not alone.

As a citizen he was respected and was rapidly gaining for himself a place in the confidence of those who knew him best. As a friend he was true, as a son he was obedient and helpful and as a husband he was devoted and ever thoughtful for the happiness of her who so recently left her own home to be his bride.

All that is mortal of our friend sleeps in the cemetery at 1st Mt. Pleasant, and his soul rests in peace in the spirit world. May his memory not grow dim nor his virtues be forgotten.    C. R. H.
