Mrs. Lucy Burnett, age 77 years, after a two weeks illness died at her home in east Franklin Tuesday evening. She has been a resident of Franklin since 1838 and in point of years’ residence was one of the oldest citizens of Franklin. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. M. Smith.

The 1850 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana, records Levi and Lucy (Rogers) Burnett and their children as living in Franklin Township, District No. 60. Although Levi and Lucy were born in Virginia, all their children from 1-year-old Levi to 13-year-old John were born in Indiana.
The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920 page 28, referencing Book H-18, page 5 records that Lucy Burnett, an eighty-three-year-old white female, died 4 Aug 1896 in Franklin.
