==============================

The funeral of Mrs. Lee Burdick, who was killed by lightning, took place at Greenwood Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock.

Squire Barger, of Smith’s Valley, transacted business here Wednesday. In his correspondence this week will be found mention of the death of Mrs. Lee Burdick of Clark Township, who was killed by lightning while Mr. Barger was at work there with a force of hands Monday. Mr. Barger says the bolt preceded the storm two or three miles and came while he and his men were still at work.

Last Monday while F L Barger and his men were working on the Lee Burdick house near Rocklane, about 1 o’clock during the rain storm a bolt of lightning struck a small hickory tree under which Mrs. Burdick was sitting, killing her instantly. Mailen Griffen nearby was severely shocked. There was only one bolt of lightning during the storm and that was a very heavy one. The tree that was struck was some fifty steps from where the carpenters were at work. They were considerably shaken up.
