Mrs. James M. Brown, after a lingering illness, died at her home in east Franklin on Tuesday morning. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev. C. W. Tinsley.

The 1870 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson, Indiana records twenty-six-year-old, Indiana-born James Brown, his twenty-year-old, Indiana-born wife Lavina Brown and their one-year-old, Indiana-born son, William E Brown.
