John Robert Briggs
John Robert “Bob” Briggs, 76, died Saturday at his residence in Greenwood.
He was born July 12, 1919, in White River Township. His parents were Paul Huffman Briggs and Thelma Mae (Wright) Briggs. He married Annis Gail Wirey July 30, 1945. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4. Survivors in- clude two daughters, Linda S. Samples and Brenda L. Briggs, both of Greenwood; and one granddaughter.
He was a 1940 graduate of Center Grove High School.
He was a lifelong farmer in White River Township and had worked as a school bus driver for the Center Grove Community School Corp. from 1945 to 1985.
He was a member of Smith Valley United Methodist Church, Greenwood Masonic Lodge 514 and Jubilee Order of Eastern Star 602 and a founding member of Valley Riders Saddle Club.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
The Rev. John Samples will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson St. Pierre Greenwood Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in White River Township.
