Carl W. Branigin

Carl W. Branigin, 89, Fortville, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on May 11, 1916 in Franklin, IN, he was the son of Ralph E. Branigin and Eva May (Bridges) Branigin.

He graduated from Nineveh High School in Nineveh, Indiana in 1934. He married Helen L. (Cochran) Brani­gin.

He worked for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation in California as an airplane mechanic. He also worked for United Telephone Company, known as Sprint, as a central office equipment man from 1943–1981.

Mr. Branigin was a member of the Fortville First United Methodist Church and served on the Fortville Town Board and the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Board.

Surviving him are his son, David (Nancy) Branigin, Fortville; grand­children, Angela Doty and Michael Branigin; and four great-grandchil­dren. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; son, Thomas Branigin; brothers, Harold, Arlie and Donald Branigin; and sisters, Sara McCowan and Hazel McCraith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuaries, 124 E Staat St., Fortville, IN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuaries in Fort­ville. Reverend Tom Pitcher will be officiating. Burial will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fortville First United Meth­odist Church, 125 E Staat St., Fort­ville, IN 46040.
