John S. Braden

John Scott “Jethro” Braden died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Indianapolis. A resident of Greensburg, he was 26.

Mr. Braden died after being shot outside a Denny’s Restaurant in Photo Marion County after trying to intervene in a domestic dispute in the restaurant’s parking lot.

He was born September 23, 1970, in Franklin to Rodney K. Braden and Sandra Bedwell Huntington. His father survives in Franklin. His mother survives in Nashville.

Mr. Braden and Monica Yvonne Gayle Westerfeld were married July 15, 1996, in Louisville. She survives.

He was graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1988.

During his high school years, Mr. Braden was a guard on Franklin’s varsity football team. He was also a member of the school’s wrestling squad.

Mr. Braden had worked in securi­ty and entertainment for bars in Indianapolis.

He served in the United States Army from 1988 until 1990. He was stationed in Cambodia during Operation Desert Storm.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association.

Other survivors include a son, Logan Brett Michael Braden of Greensburg; his step-father, Dennis Huntington of Nashville; his step- mother, Martha Ennis Braden of Franklin; a brother, Kenneth Robert Braden of Carmel; a sister, Angela Kristine Braden of Franklin; a step- sister, Michelle Lynn Lewis of Bargersville; a step-brother, Jeffrey Lee Huntington of Columbus; his grandmothers, Naoma Bedwell of Franklin and Vitula Sharp Whitworth of Horned, Kentucky; step-grandparents, Ray and Inez Williams Huntington of Columbus; a nephew; a niece; and many cousins.

A service was conducted Friday, June 13, at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin.

Burial was in that city’s Greenlawn Cemetery.
