James L. ’Tim’ Bowman

James L. "Tim" Bowman, 88, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resi­dent of Jacksonville, Fla.

He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Chattanooga, Tenn. His parents were James F. and Dora M. (Gollohan) Bowman. He married Melissa (Redding) Bowman on July 18, 1937, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1999. Survivors include a son, James Ray Bowman of Lake City, Fla.; a daughter, Catherine B. Janniche of Indianapolis; four grand­children; and eight great-grand­children. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Bowman; a brother, William Bow­man; three sisters, Catherine Gann, Dorothy Cain and Mar­garet Mills; and two great-grand­children.

He was employed by Seaboard Airline Railroad as a conductor, retiring in 1977.

He was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church.

The Rev. Charles Knight will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Lake Forest Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Rest­lawn Memorial Park in Jackson­ville, Fla. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis is handling ar­rangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
