Canadian Wheat Rancher, Native Of Edinburg, Dies In Alberta Saturday Night

Edinburg, February 1—A former local resident, James Luther Bowman, 52, passed away Saturday evening at 6:10 at his home at Carmangay, Alberta, Canada, where he had lived the past 25 years.
He had been in failing health for the past several months and had visited here in the late fall. His condition has been critical since December, and his sister, Miss Elva Bowman, who teaches Latin and history in the Edinburg schools, was at his bedside during the Christmas holidays.
Mr. Bowman was born in Edinburg, November 18, 1890, the son of William and Ida May Drybread Bowman. He spent his early manhood in Edinburg and also resided with the family at Madison. He became a Canadian citizen a few years ago in order to clear the titles of his ranch where he raised wheat.
He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother who lives in Indianapolis, and two sisters, Miss Elva Bowman and Miss Mary Bowman, who made her home with the deceased. Other local survivors are an uncle, Frank Bowman and two cousins, Mrs. Ivory Miller and Miss Nella Drybread.
Funeral services were to have been held today at the late home. Interment was to have been made at Carmangay.
