Charles Bowling [sic] died Saturday evening at his home from scrofula. He had been blind for several years owing to the disease from which he suffered. He leaves four children. Funeral ser­vices were held Monday morning, con­ducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson. Burial at Hopewell.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 18 records that Charlie Boling died at about 4 o’clock a. m. on 14 Jul 1900 in Franklin from asthenia caused by chronic tubulointerstitial nephritis of about four years’ duration, contributory cause enteritis of three days’ duration, aged forty-one years, one month and twenty-four days. He was male, white, widowed and a laborer, born in Indiana. His father’s name was Jesse Boling, and his mother’s maiden name was unknown, birthplace of both unknown. Ellis Boling was the informant. Charles was buried in Hopewell Cemetery on 18 Jul 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
