Elsie M. Bartlett

Elsie M. Bartlett, 74, of Edinburgh, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born May 12, 1928, in Grayson, Ky., she was the daughter of James W. and Sarah (Blanton) Preston. She married William Ray Bartlett on Nov. 4, 1961, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Dale R. Barnett of North Vernon and James “Tony” Barnett of Taylorsville; three daughters, Rae Jean Henry of Edinburgh, Rhonda N. Ryan of Jacksonville, Ark., and April R. Bartlett of Bedford; one foster daughter, Donna Railey of Edinburgh; two sisters, Gladys R. Miller of Greenwood and Goldie M. Moore of Mission, Miss.; 10 grand­children; two step-grand­children; one foster grand­daughter; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grand­children; two foster great-grand­children; and one great-great-grandson.

Mrs. Bartlett was an inspector for National Lead in Edinburgh for 17 years, retiring in 1977. She formerly was an American Red Cross nurse’s aide at Camp Atterbury and was employed at Union Starch in Edinburgh.

She was a member of Edinburgh American Legion Auxiliary No. 233 and Morgantown Order of Eastern Star No. 579.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh, with the Rev. Byron Fritz officiating.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cem­etery in Edinburgh.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Elsie M. Preston Bartlett, 74, Edinburgh, died Oct. 6. She was an inspector 17 years for National Lead, retiring in 1977. Previously, she was a nurse’s aide at Camp Atterbury for the American Red Cross and at Union Star, Edinburgh. Mrs. Bartlett was a member of the American Legion ladies auxiliary, Edinburgh post, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Morgantown chapter.

She was the widow of William Ray Bartlett.
