Myrtle, second daughter of George and Eloise [sic] Alexander, died of dysentery July 21, after a two weeks’ illness. For a time it seemed she was not seriously ill, giving the anxious watchers at her bedside confident hopes of her speedy recovery. But a fatal reverse came quickly. The budding life of the baby girl and the spotless soul was borne away by the angels to the throne of god. Death comes soonest to the fairest flowers and wields a partial scepter. But to us who mourn our loss, to those who loved this little one, to all crushed and bleeding hearts there is the glorious promise of the creed: “The communion of the saints, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.”
