William Ditmars is a native of Johnson County, was born in Franklin Township, October 4, 1857, the son of Cornelius L. and Caroline (Banta) Ditmars, and is the third child born to his father’s first marriage. The boyhood days of our subject were spent on a farm, where he attended the country schools, and, later spent one year in the Franklin high school. Mr. Ditmars spent the year 1883 and part of 1884, in northwestern Texas; here he engaged in farming, and in September, 1885, settled where he now resides. In addition, he is an extensive stock-dealer, and by industry and good management has secured a comfortable home. Mr. Ditmars was united in marriage December 16, 1885, to Miss Minnie, daughter of Prof. David and Caroline Graham. Mrs. Ditmars was born in Columbus, Ind., August 31, 1864. Mr. Ditmars is a staunch republican in politics, and is a representative of one of the early and prominent families of this county. He and wife are members of the Presbyterian Church.
